Coyote
Reservoir, Gilroy CA: March 31, 2007,
We had forty float tubers, kick boaters and kayakers show
up to fish the 3rd annual "Coyote Bait and Tackle Open"
at Coyote Reservoir in Gilroy, CA .
The weather cooperated with us this year and we fished in
near perfect conditions. The fish on the other hand were not
nearly as cooperative as only about half the field brought
fish to the scale.
Alex Macdonald had the bag to beat on this day with 3 fish
for 20.38 pounds and the victory. Alex topped off his bag
with a 10.39 pound kicker. Alex reported getting his bites
on a swimbait early in the day. Jerry Smyth fishing from a
float tube for the first time scored on the big fish of the
day with a fat 13.59 pound Coyote hog which earned him second
place as well. Jerry also reported getting his fish on a swimbait.
Third place went to Joey Castro who brought one fish to the
scale also, for 9.19 pounds. Mario Guel took home a check
for fourth place with his one swimbait fish which tipped the
scale at 8.8 pounds. The fifth place finisher Anthony Lopez
also had one nice fish for 7.92 pounds. The only limit of
the day was brought to the scale by Gil Mora for 7.87 pounds.
And a sixth place finish. In seventh place with 3 fish for
4.77 pounds was Bryan Vogt. The last paying position went
to Mitch Smith who had 3 fish for 4.70 pounds.
While
the fishing wasn't exactly hot the raffle sure was. Coyote
Bait and Tackle supplied some awesome raffle prizes for all
the participants in this event, again!
I
want to thank Denise and Coyote Bait and Tackle for the generosity
they show towards the anglers who come out for this event.
I also want to thank the forty people who fished with us this
year. It was a blast as always.
