2008 Coyote Bait and Tackle Open
Results and Photos

Coyote Reservoir, Gilroy CA: April 26, 2008,
The 4th annual "Coyote Bait and Tackle Open" at Coyote Reservoir in Gilroy, CA had thirty nine float tubers, kick boaters and kayakers show up to fish.
The anglers found perfect weather waiting for them in the morning and it stayed that way all day with sunshine and light breezes. The Coyote giants were very elusive this year and only about half the field found some fish on what turned out to be a tough day of fishing for most.

Taylor Capilla topped everyone by weighing in the only limit of the day for a weight of 12.29 pounds. Taylor reported getting an early reaction bite on a spinnerbait then filling his limit with a Senko. Taylor's bag also included the second big fish of the day at 4.71 pounds. Aaron Swerkes fishing from his kayak took second place honors with three fish for 6.50 pounds. This was Aaron's first money finish fishing a BnT hosted tournament. In a close third place was Scott Rouhier who also scored with three fish for a weight of 6.30 pounds. Finishing in the money for the first time in fourth place was Greg Calcagno with three fish for 5.29 pounds. The fifth place finisher Chris Ochs had one nice fish for 4.91 pounds which also earned him the big fish of the day and a fat paycheck to go along with it. Bryan Vogt continued his success at Coyote by finishing in 6th place and earning his fourth consecutive check with three fish for 4.56 pounds. Gil Mora finished in the seventh and final paying position with 1 fish for 3.70 pounds.
Most everyone who caught fish reported using a drop shot or a senko to get most of their bites.

Once again Coyote Bait and Tackle stepped up with some awesome raffle prizes at the end of the day for all the participants in this event. The raffle alone made the less than stellar fishing somehow seem OK.

I want to thank Denise and Coyote Bait and Tackle for the generosity they show towards the anglers who come out for this event. I also want to thank the thirty nine anglers who fished with us this year. It was a blast as always.
